LEM Big Bite Meat Grinder Series: Unique features

The LEM Big Bite Meat Grinder series is a range of meat grinders offered by LEM Products, a reputable brand known for its meat processing equipment. The Big Bite series is designed to provide powerful and efficient grinding capabilities for both home and commercial use. Here’s an overview of the features and benefits commonly associated with the LEM Big Bite Meat Grinder series:

Enhanced Performance

The Big Bite technology implemented in these grinders allows for a larger auger and improved meat movement, resulting in a faster and more efficient grinding process. This feature helps to reduce the need for multiple passes and ensures a smoother grinding experience.

Powerful Motors

The Big Bite series typically offers models with motors ranging from 0.35 to 1.5 horsepower, depending on the specific model. The powerful motors enable grinding through large quantities of meat with ease.

Durable Construction

LEM Big Bite Meat Grinders are constructed with durable materials like stainless steel, ensuring longevity and resistance to rust. The heavy-duty build makes them suitable for frequent and demanding use.

Variety of Sizes

The Big Bite series provides various models with different sizes and capacities to accommodate different needs and preferences. Models range from compact countertop units to larger, freestanding grinders, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their requirements.

Safety Features

Many models in the Big Bite series come equipped with safety features such as built-in circuit breakers, ensuring protection against motor overload and electrical issues.

Lem #8 Mighty Bite Grinder Reviews

The .5HP Big Bite grinder is a good middle ground, allowing you to grind when you need to without feeling rushed or concerned that it will take forever.

The grinder itself is sturdy and substantial. The brushed steel exterior not only has a professional look but also makes it simple to clean.

It has everything you need, including a stainless steel knife blade that fits securely on the auger, three stuffing tubes in varied widths, a meat stomper, a huge meat pan and a plate extractor (4.5mm, 10mm, and a plate for filling sausage casings).

Attachment for the LEM #8 Mighty Bite sausage maker

There are a plethora of attachments available for this grinder series, and LEM is constantly pushing the envelope with new designs. While most meat processing machines only offer accessories for stuffing sausages, LEM goes above and beyond by also including a juicer, patty maker, meat mixer, and jerky strip maker.

If you’re like me and only grind once or twice a year, you’ll like the addition of a drawer to store your attachments and plates when they’re not in use.

Auger

The Big Bite auger is what makes this grinder special, though the rifling in the head unit helps drag meat towards the blade so you don’t have to stomp on it as much.

When compared to grinders with standard-sized augers, LEM’s mighty Bite technology enables its auger to grab an extra “big bite” of meat and force it into the grinder head more quickly.

Assembling

In addition, everything fits together quite well. The Big Bite is coming together like a finely tuned machine just waiting for its moment in the sun.

The assembly time is minimal. It would take you maybe five minutes to put it together completely, but you need to wash all the parts before using them for the first time.

Construction

The LEM has high-quality components and a sturdy build. The Lem #8 Big Bite grinder is a product of careful design and engineering for maximum effectiveness. After the first five-year warranty expires, it will continue to serve you well with minimal maintenance.

Easy to use

The .5HP version makes quick work of grinding meat. It is effective even with pork butt, which still has some of its connective tissue and sinew attached.

Low noise

It’s not as noisy as I would have thought it would be, given the grinder’s impressive power and speed. The smaller grinders I’ve used in the past have been significantly noisier than the Lem #8 Mighty Bite Grinder.

Package contents

  • 3 Stainless Steel Plates
  • 4.5mm, 10mm, & stuffing plate
  • Stainless Steel Knife
  • Meat stopper
  • A huge meat pan

Drawback

Sausage stuffing challenges

This one, like all grinders, shares a common flaw: poor sausage-stuffing abilities. It takes two people, one to lead the casing as it fills with ground beef and the other to feed the meat into the hopper. Overpacking the grind into the auger can create a suction vacuum of meat, which is not desirable. It is a slow and laborious process.

PROS

  • Easy to clean
  • Capacity to grind up to 7 pounds of meat per minute
  • 5-year warranty
  • Quiet when grinding meat

CONS

  • Expensive

How to use Lem #8 mighty bite grinder?

The assembly of the grinder will take no more than five minutes, but there are a few things you should have ready before you begin grinding meat.

Cleaning

You should clean the components to get rid of any dirt or dust that may have accumulated during shipping or production. Then, before grinding, ensure that the grinder’s components are as cool as possible.

Chilling

While you’re getting the meat ready, you can put the auger, blade, plates, and tray in the freezer. Plan for the workday and allow at least half an hour to chill everything down.

Grinding

As simple as grinding can get after preparation and assembly. You don’t have to bother with any confusing reversing settings because the Big Bite grinder only has one speed and an “on/off” switch.

How I Tested?

I found that the Big Bite auger size kept the meat moving quickly into the knife and plate and that I needed to use the meat stomper only seldom.

I put a fully trimmed four-pound brisket flat through the grinder to see how quickly it would chop. The Big Bite finished grinding the par frozen beef in three minutes and eight seconds. If I hadn’t been so sluggish when reloading the tray, we could have finished in less time. It didn’t take long for me to finish my beef.

The Big Bite grinder, according to LEM, can process 7 lbs of beef in one minute. I double-ground a 6lb par frozen and untrimmed pork butt for a more precise evaluation.

As the meat rolled through the grinder, it didn’t even flinch. Again, the auger did most of the work, and I hardly had to use the meat stomper before it was ready for the knife and plate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are bones too hard to grind in a meat grinder?

There is no doubt about it; a good electric grinder can mince up the bones of small animals and soft bones. Chickens, rabbits, ducks, and other fowl have soft bones. You shouldn’t put a deer skeleton through your meat grinder because it isn’t a soft bone.

What type of meat is best to grind?

Meat that is partially frozen is ideal for the meat grinder. For the best results while grinding the meat, chill it in the freezer for 15 to 30 minutes. Chill the meat auger, cutting blades, grinding plate, grinder head, and any other moving parts of the grinder.

Is a food processor suitable for grinding deer meat?

However, if you only need to ground a tiny bit of venison, you can use a food processor. Instead of producing ground beef, this is more of a meat miner.

Final Thoughts

Hunters and hobbyists alike will benefit greatly from the use of the LEM.5HP Big Bite meat grinder. For the occasional home cook who only uses a grinder a few times a year, it may be overkill, but it comes as near as a consumer device can replicate the experience of using a commercial countertop machine.

As a result, I now make more homemade sausages and experiment with different burger grinds than ever before in the comfort of my own house. Snack sticks and smoked meats will be my next experiment with this equipment.

The investment is well worth it with the 5-year guarantee and lifetime service, even though the price is more than other grinders we’ve tested. Like a cast-iron skillet, this grinder will last for a long time.

I hope this post about Lem #8 mighty bite grinder reviews would be of great use to you.
